Budget 2013 - Working towards the future

Apprenticeships are a priority in the 2013 budget as the Province works toward its goal of adding 75,000 workers to Manitoba’s labour force by 2020.

The Province will put $800,000 towards creating more than 100 new apprenticeships to fill high-demand jobs in the skilled trades.

"Despite an uncertain global economy, Manitoba has kept moving forward with smart, targeted investments in training opportunities and, by building our infrastructure, creating thousands of jobs," said Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade Minister Peter Bjornson.

The Province has also provided major funding toward the first phase of a new Skilled Trades and Technology Centre for Red River College. This will house many of the high- demand construction trade programs, including carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
